Camila Cabello is honored at the Hispanic Federation's Annual Gala 2022

Cuban-American artist Camila Cabello received the Pride Award from the Hispanic Federation (HF), a leading non-governmental organization based in the United States to support Latino/Hispanic communities through local, state and national advocacy.

According to the organization, “The Hispanic Federation’s Annual Gala is a star-studded event that pays tribute to amazing individuals and institutions working to inspire and uplift Latino communities nationwide. Chaired by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the Federation’s Annual Gala is one of the most anticipated events of the year, bringing together hundreds of our nation’s leading philanthropists and influencers in support of Latino causes”.

The Annual Gala 2022 that awarded Camila Cabello raised a record 3 million dollars, which, according to the organization, are destined for programs to help the Latino community in the United States and Puerto Rico.

The singer, upon receiving the award, declared: “I am incredibly honored to be here tonight receiving the Pride Award from the Hispanic Federation, an organization that has been at the forefront of defending and empowering the Latino community for more than 30 years”.

During the Annual Gala 2022 that was held at the American Museum of Natural History, in New York, on April 28, Cabello thanked the organization for their work with the Hispanic community: “I celebrate your incredible achievements and the work that we did during the pandemic to ensure that the Latino community was at the center of recovery efforts”.

“The organization noted that the resources collected will be used to support Latino causes, including ongoing covid-19 relief and recovery programs. In the same way, initiatives for food and housing assistance, medical assistance, assistance to the development of labor force, legal assistance to immigration and other essential social services for Latinos in 41 states and Porto Rico”, according to EFE agency.

Camila received this recognition for her success as a musician and her work in the Latino community, recognized for her support for immigrants and people who are awaiting a response to their asylum application at the US-Mexico border.

In partnership with the Movement Voter Fund, Camila Cabello launched the Healing Justice project last year to join efforts to provide resources to support mental health for young Americans.

“Other honorees included Raúl Alarcón Jr., CEO and President of the Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS). In turn, the Grupo de las Ocho Comunidades Aledañas al Caño Martín Peña received the Community Service Award for leading a grassroots campaign to clean a 3.75-mile-long tidal channel in San Juan, Puerto Rico”, according to the Publication.
