William Blaine Richardson III (November 15, 1947 – September 1, 2023) was born in Pasadena, California, but grew up in Mexico City, the son of a Mexican mother and an American father who was an executive of an American bank. He was a prominent figure in U.S. politics and international diplomacy. Richardson had a distinguished career serving as governor of New Mexico, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, and secretary of energy during the Clinton administration.
