Born as Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija in 1999, in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico, Pluma began playing guitar as a teenager and found his passion for regional Mexican music. He developed his skill by writing songs that reflected his experiences and emotions, eventually making a name for himself in the music scene.
After a few years of hard work, Pluma released his first two albums, "Ah y Qué?" (2020) and "Secondary Effects" (2021), which earned him moderate success. However, it was with the release of "El Belicón" in 2022, a collaboration with Raul Vega, that his career really took off. The song was a smash hit, selling 480,000 units and achieving 8× Platinum Latin certification by the RIAA. Pluma followed this success with more successful singles and collaborations, such as "Siempre Pendientes" with Luis R. Conriquez.
Pluma's popularity has grown exponentially, especially among Latin listeners, with several of his songs entering the Billboard charts. In particular, "Ella Baila Sola" made history by becoming the first Mexican regional song to reach the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. His influence also extends beyond Mexico's borders, with his music being widely streamed around the world.
Pluma is credited for his distinctive musical style, a fusion of corridos tumbados (Mexican musical genre) with elements of Latin urban music such as Latin hip hop and reggaeton. His ability to cross genres and appeal to a diverse audience has made him one of the most streamed artists of all time in Mexico.
Among Pluma's musical influences, his love of hip-hop music and his connections to artists such as Bad Bunny stand out. Despite his success, Pluma has faced controversy, especially related to the lyrics of his songs and his association with the narcocorrido genre, which glorifies themes of drug trafficking.
