Vice President Kamala Harris and the Partnership for Central America (PCA) announced a significant private sector commitment, totaling more than $1 billion in new investments, as part of the of the Central America Forward Initiative (CAF), a public-private partnership that was created in response to the Vice President's call to action for North Central America. This announcement marks an important step in the response to the crisis in Central America and brings the grand total of new commitments to more than $5.2 billion since May 2021.

Private sector investments are being directed into a variety of areas, including financial inclusion, job creation, workforce empowerment, digital access, and food security. These investments aim to create tangible opportunities for families and communities in the region, strengthening the local economy and reducing the factors that drive migration.

Some of the key commitments include Acceso's investment in sustainable agricultural models, Banco Cuscatlan's commitment to promoting financial inclusion in El Salvador, and Ficohsa's investment in loans to women-led small and medium-sized enterprises.

In addition to the new commitments, the text highlights the positive impact of previous CAF commitments, such as increasing financial inclusion, job creation, digital access and food security in the region. Additional initiatives are also mentioned, such as the Financial Inclusion Consortium for Remittances from Central America and the Launch of the In Her Hands Initiative (IHH) to promote women's economic security in the region.

Overall, the initiative proposes coordinated efforts by the public and private sector to boost economic and social development in Central America by addressing key issues affecting local communities and contributing to a comprehensive response to the crisis in the region.
